Monetary contribution reports for LA Senate candidates

comment

Sen. Mary Landrieu and Rep. Bill Cassidy ended the most recent reporting period with nearly the same amount of cash on hand. Landrieu took in almost $4 million more in contributions, but she has spent far more than Cassidy: $7 million to his $3 million. The third major challenger in the race, Rob Maness, has raised more than $1.5 million, far behind the other candidates, but has spent most of it; he had less than $200,000 cash on hand at the end of the reporting period. None of this includes spending by "Super PACs," which are not new but will continue to pump millions of dollars into advertising, much of it attack ads. In an interview with Gambit last week, Rep. Cedric Richmond estimated total spending on the race will be between $50 and $100 million should the race go into a runoff.
