The new Champagne bar Effervescence (1036 N. Rampart St., 504-509-7644; www.nolabubbles.com) had a soft opening during Carnival. It celebrates its grand opening weekend March 17-19.
The opening menu includes many sparkling wines available by the glass. The list features Veuve Ambal Brut Blanc de Blanc, Tattinger "La Francaise" Brut and Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut. There's also a menu of small plates, including caviar, crudites, cheeses, cold seafood platters (raw oysters, crab claws, crudo) and French fries with aioli. A smaller late-night menu is available as well.
Efferevescence will be open evenings Wednesday through Sunday.
