Anyone intrigued by the extent and variety of Prospect.1 art exhibits may be interested in this set of presentations. From the French for "courtyard," DesCours is a series of exhibits in the French Quarter, CBD and Warehouse District organized by the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). A mix of local and international architects have created art, furniture and installations (many using cutting-edge construction materials and technologies) in courtyards not normally open to the public and in hidden breezeways and little-traveled side streets. Participants take a wide range of approaches. Bruno Gallery (900 S. Peters St.) features an exhibit using the scientific effect of sonoluminescence, in which a gas-infused liquid emits light based on sound waves traveling through it. Many of the courtyard installations feature pieces intended to show how modern designs can complement historic structures and spaces, says local AIA executive director Melissa Urcan. Each night of the exposition, a different site features live music from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Performers include the Rebirth Brass Band, Kidd Jordan Band, Eddie Bo, the Pinettes Brass Band and others. See the Web site for a list of sites, participants and performances. Free admission. — Will Coviello
