Coolinary specials return to New Orleans

More than 90 restaurants offer prix fixe menus through August

For the month of August, restaurants will offer discounted dining deals as part of the annual Coolinary New Orleans summer promotion. It's a chance for diners to try out a new spot or revisit an old favorite without breaking the bank. For restaurant owners, it's a way to attract diners during the slower summer months. The deals follow a similar format as previous years, with restaurants offering prix fixe menus for no more than $39. This year, more than 90 restaurants have joined the list.

At Maypop, chef Michael Gulotta's Southeast Asian restaurant in the Warehouse District, a $36 three-course menu includes a chilled melon soup with coconut yogurt, melon salad, salami and cocoa granola, and a hot chicken vindaloo with crispy sticky rice cakes and pickled strawberries. A $20 lunch at Public Service inside the NOPSI Hotel features an heirloom tomato and bacon bisque paired with a grilled three-cheese sandwich on brioche. At Lula Restaurant Distillery, a three-course dinner menu for $28.95 features herb-marinated blue crab claws with heirloom tomatoes and sauteed Gulf fish with Israeli couscous and Creole slaw.
