Chef Chris DeBarr is now running the kitchen at Revel (133 N. Carrollton Ave., 504-309-6122; www.revelcafeandbar.com), Chris and Laura McMillian's Mid-City cocktail haunt.
Barman and co-founder of the Museum of the American Cocktail, The McMillians opened the bar in early 2016. DeBarr lives nearby and is a friend of the McMillians. After a stint at Bywater Bakery, DeBarr moved to Revel earlier in May, replacing chef Nick Vella, who left New Orleans for a job in Kansas City.
DeBarr made a name for himself serving creative fare at the Uptown wine bar The Delachaise. He later opened the French Quarter restaurant Green Goddess and then his own space, Serendipity, in the American Can building in Mid-City.
DeBarr said he has made some changes to the menu at Revel. There will be a seasonal chilled soup and he added a few seafood salads.There's also a Spanish-style roasted vegetable medley with chevre and pesto, a revamped cheese and charcuterie board and new desserts, DeBarr says.
Revel is open 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
