Bridge to Fitness

The Crescent City Fitness Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health and fitness, will stage the Smoothie King Crescent City Connection Road Race on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

  The 4-mile race starts on the West Bank (175 Hector Ave., Gretna) behind the Oakwood Shopping Center, crosses the Crescent City Connection over the Mississippi River and ends at the Port of New Orleans Administration Building (1350 Port of New Orleans Place) on the East Bank.

  A party after the race includes an awards ceremony, live music, free Abita Light beer, soft drinks, Kentwood water, food and more.

  Preregister for the race at www.ccff.org or www.ccc10k.com by noon Friday, Sept. 4; the first 2,000 preregistered entrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Registration on the day of the race will be held from 5 pm. to 6:30 p.m. It costs $20, or $15 without a race T-shirt.
