Makeup with a Mission

recently donated more than $600 worth of skin care products to the New Orleans Mission's women's center. The project, started by Mary Kay's New Orleans sales director Laura Prottsman, donates a portion of Mary Kay sales to local charities and programs, including Metropolitan Center for Women and Children.


New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and Lusher Charter School

were named 2014-2016 Exemplary Schools by Arts School Network. The designation recognizes excellence in arts education and improvement. The nonprofit network recognized 20 schools in North America and has provided support to schools for more than 30 years.


YLC's 2014 Role Models,

a group of 25 business owners, organization directors and civic leaders, were selected by the Young Leadership Council for awards recognizing their work in New Orleans. The 28th annual awards event is Aug. 9. Visit for details.


Kaneasha Goston,

a Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services auditor, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court June 19 to stealing more than $150,000 from the agency. She purchased personal items as well as hotel rooms in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and the 2014 NBA All-Star Game. Another auditor, Delrice Jermaine Augustus, pleaded guilty in May to similar crimes.
