will donate $1 million to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, the couple announced last week on the CBS News show Face to Face. The specific charities have not been chosen. The sum is equal to that donated by the NFL and the NFL Players' Association — combined.

Ritz-Carlton and Marriott hotels

of New Orleans are supporting the Ozanam Inn's annual Forgotten Angels holiday event, putting out collection boxes at 15 local hotels for new unwrapped toys and winter clothes. On Dec. 8, chefs from the hotels' restaurants will serve meals to families living in shelters and distribute the gifts to children at a luncheon at the University of New Orleans.

The national average is 11.7 percent. According to the March of Dimes, the only state with a worse record is Mississippi, where 16.9 percent of all births are premature.
