For those who have decided to give up sweets for Lent, The Kupcake Factory has officially challenged your resolve. This Saturday, March 8th, marks the bakery's sixth anniversary, and to celebrate, they are giving away free cupcakes.
The Kupcake Factory now operates four locations across the metro area, including the French Quarter, Metairie, Uptown and Kenner. As well as offering specialty cakes, their menu includes a revolving stable of more than thirty different gourmet cupcake flavors in a variety of combinations, with twelve available daily. Notable options include banana-nut, birthday cake, blueberry, caramel-apple, chocolate-cherry, peanut butter and jelly, and of course red velvet, amongst others.
On Saturday, Kupcake Factory patrons can pick up a free mini cupcake (available all day), as well as participate in the chance for a bonus $6 gift card for every sixth customer. If you're not lucky number six, however, you can still get a bonus sixth cupcake if you purchase five, which is all the more reason to pick up a box of goodies for your friends or colleagues. Or just eat half a dozen cupcakes by your lonesome (we're not judging, really).
Gourmet doughnuts might be all the rage in NOLA right now, but the Kupcake Factory is clearly ready for an all out pastry Battle Royale to keep cupcakes in the limelight, even if it means giving away its sweet, frosty cakes for free.
The Kupcake Factory is located in the French Quarter at 537 Toulouse St., in Metairie at 911 Veterans Blvd., Uptown at 6233 S. Claiborne Ave., and in Kenner at 819 W. Esplanade Ave. Hours and contact numbers can be found on their website.
