Many a blurry Sunday morning has been salvaged with a slice of pizza resurrected from Saturday night’s leftovers, so it seems fitting that a local pizzeria is testing the waters for starting its own brunch service.
Pizza Delicious in the Bywater is serving brunch during Sundays in July as a trial run. If the service proves popular enough, co-owner Michael Freidman says brunch may become a regular Sunday fixture.
The brunch menu is short but offbeat: stone fruit salad, poached drum and farro salad, “Sugerman’s NY bagel plate,” with lox and fixings and a breakfast pizza topped with sliced new potatoes, cheddar, cherry tomatoes and sunny side up eggs.
Bloody Marys and a custom blend from local micro-roaster French Truck Coffee join the drink options, and the bagels are produced in the same nearby commercial kitchen where Pizza Delicious had its start as a pop-up.
The normal menu of New York-style pizza will also be served. Brunch is from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
