New Orleans native and artist George Dureau is known for is photo portraits, paintings and also a New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival poster featuring Professor Longhair. (The portrait above is in an expo at Arthur Roger Gallery through Saturday. The show is reviewed in Gambit here.) The 82-year-old artist suffers from Alzheimer's disease and has moved into an assisted living facility. To pay for care, a benefit auction is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crescent City Auction Gallery.
