Today July 13th from 5-7pm there will be a second line parade in honor of Uncle Lionel Batiste beginning at Tuba Fats Square on the corner of St. Philip and N. Robertson in the Treme, and ending at Sweet Lorraine's Jazz Club at 1931 St. Claude.

Following the parade is a benefit at Sweet Lorraine's. Taking the stage to honor the legend will be trumpeters Kermit Ruffins and Kid Merv, singer Michael Baptiste, Deacon John, singer Danon Smith and jazz violinist Michael Ward. The show starts at 7 p.m. 1931 St. Claude Ave. ($25 minimum donation).
On Thursday, July 19, Uncle Lionel Batiste will lay in state at the Charbonnet-Labat Funeral Home on St. Philip Street and North Claiborne Avenue. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts located in Armstrong Park. Additional details to come.
A memorial fund has been set up at Liberty Bank and Trust. This is the ONLY OFFICIAL FUND being created by the family which will go directly to offset funeral costs.
