Why are these kittens puzzled? Because they can't get hold of some of the people seeking office in the Feb. 6 elections.
The qualifying deadline was last Friday for candidates in the mayor, council, assessor, coroner, and sheriff's races, and most of those who filed with the Louisiana Secretary of State's office included contact information for their campaigns (even if it was just their home or cell number).
Gambit found non-working numbers for several of the announced candidates, including that of assessor aspirant Janis Lemle, whose phone has been "temporarily disconnected." Dialing the number for District C candidate Nathaniel Jones (the same number also found on the Web site of Christian Outreach Ministry in the Bywater) gets a recording saying it's a "non-working number."
And then there are Council At-Large candidate Lance W. von Uhde III and District E candidate Alicia Plummer, both of whom left their phone contact info off the official filings.
