November's second annual New Orleans Po-boy Preservation Festival grew substantially this year, attracting twice as many po-boy vendors as last year. Official judges were tasked with trying them all to pick their favorites in several categories, while festival-goers could vote for the "People's Choice" award.
The top honor of Best of Show went to Ye Olde College Inn for its bread pudding po-boy.
Newcomer Mahony's Po-boy Shop won Best Classic Fried Po-boy for its Peacemaker, which at Mahony's means fried oysters with bacon and cheddar.
DiMartino's Muffuletta's snagged Best Roast Beef Po-boy.
An alligator sausage po-boy earned Grand Isle Restaurant the Best Specialty Seafood Po-boy award.
And judges gave the Vietnamese banh mi of meatball and shredded pork from Banh Mi Sao Mi Restaurant their Best Specialty Non-Seafood Po-boy award.
The People's Choice award went to Parkway Bakery and Tavern for its roast beef.
