10:30 a.m.

Close Combat

Students in Close Combat and Fitness' self-defense program for kids and adults will demonstrate some advanced tactics and show the audience some techniques using volunteers.

11 a.m.

Good and Good For You

East Jefferson General Hospital nutritionist Rebecca Lee and chef John Rester from Serranos Salsa Company will conduct a cooking demonstration.

11:30 a.m.

Pole Party

Pole Perfect Fitness will demonstrate the strengthening and enjoyable workout women can get using an exercise pole. The pole fitness regimen promises a flatter stomach and leaner, slimmer and stronger arms, thighs, hips and waist.


Flirty Dancing

The Zumba program is a Latin cardio fitness class in which international Latin dance rhythms like salsa, merengue and cha-cha are fused with easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that is fun and healthy. The routines feature interval-training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.

Calm Your Storms

The Archdiocese of New Orleans teaches you how to relieve stress using "progressive relaxation," the tightening and relaxing of different muscle groups in the body.

Healthy Dancing

East Jefferson General Hospital Wellness Center's Mike Johnson demonstrates "Spicy Steps" aerobics, which combines great music and dance steps to make getting fit fun.

1:30 p.m.

Intelligent Safety

Street Smart Krav Maga teaches a nontraditional martial art through training that focuses on simple self-protection techniques.

2 p.m.

Yum Yum

Learn to make great-tasting dishes that are good for you when chef Duke LoCicero of Cafe Giovanni and Rebecca Lee, a nutritionist at East Jefferson General Hospital, conduct a cooking demonstration.

2:30 p.m.

No Jelly Belly Here

Hip-ocrisy Bellydancers present a mix of improvisational and choreographed contemporary belly dancing.

3 p.m.

Saved by the Bell

Snap Fitness demonstrates exercises using a kettlebell, a hot fitness tool you can use to pack full-body conditioning, strength-building and more into your workout while helping you achieve weight-loss goals.
