2008 The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc

Marlborough, New Zealand

$9-$13 Retail

When the climate is as hot as this New Orleans' summer, perhaps the most refreshing adult beverage is a nice glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc. A lively wine with inviting fruit aromatics of kiwi, lime and melon with herbal nuances, Crossings is a huge favorite for new as well as seasoned Sauvignon Blanc drinkers, and it's a bargain to boot. Light, crisp and clean, this wine is perfect on the palate with citrusy flavors of grapefruit, tangy lime and a minerality that plays through the long, zingy, acid-balanced finish. Serve as a delightful aperitif or enjoy with lighter fare such as chicken salad, shellfish, grilled white-fleshed fish and white meats. Buy it at: Rouse's on Tchoupitoulas Street and Carrollton Avenue, Cork & Bottle, Dorignac's and Acquistapace's Covington Supermarket. Drink it at: Herbsaint, Commander's Palace and Nola.
