2008 Dama del Rovere Lessini Durello Brut

Veneto, Italy / $15-$17 Retail

Made from old-vine Durello grapes sourced from hillside vineyards 1,500 feet above sea level, this wine is crisp, lively and refreshing with a wonderful effervescence. In the glass, aromas of wild flowers, pear and yeasty notes tickle the nose, followed by flavorful expressions of tart apple, zesty lemon and lime with a refreshing minerality. Drink it as an aperitif or with fried eggplant sticks, raw oysters, shellfish in rich sauces, lobster bisque and grilled or smoked salmon. Buy it at: Rouses in Uptown and Bacchanal. Drink it at: Boucherie, Domenica, The Delachaise and Bar Tonique. — Brenda Maitland
