2006 Monte Antico Rosso

Wine Spectator just added this Super Tuscan to its "2009 Top 100" list. The wine is composed of 85 percent Sangiovese, 10 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 5 percent Merlot. In the glass, expect aromas of black cherry, earthy notes, licorice and dried herbs, and taste plum, currants, cedar and spice on the palate. Drink it with meat, fowl, cheeses, risotto, pasta dishes and pizza.
