A crew of local chefs, including recent James Beard Foundation Best Chef: South winner Justin Devillier, will be featured at the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America tour this fall.

The traveling culinary event, now in its fourth year, spans six weeks and includes stops in 10 cities, including a Sept. 30 event in New Orleans.

The New Orleans kick-off, A Night of Culinary Stars, will take place at the Hyatt Regency and feature an reception of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from local chefs Michael Gulotta, Isaac Toups, Slade Rushing, Nina Compton, and Phillip Lopez. A  multi-course dinner will be prepared by James Beard Award winner Alex Guarnaschelli, La Petite Grocery’s Justin Devillier, Ralph Brennan Group pastry chef Brett Gauthier and Hyatt Regency chef Eric Damidot.

Book signings by Guarnaschelli and chef and food writer Jay Ducote will take place at Sur La Table in Baton Rouge on Oct. 1.

Other cities on the tour include Boston, Charleston, Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Oregon, San Francisco, and the Twin Cities.

Tickets for the New Orleans event are $300. a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Taste America Scholarship Fund.
