The New Orleans Film Society has posted the schedule for its annual French Film Festival, which will be held July 7-14 at the Prytania Theatre. The festival mixes classics of French cinema with many local premieres of recently made films. New films this year include Les Cowboys, a rare French Western co-written by Thomas Bidegain (Rust and Bone); The Wait (L'Attessa), a relationship drama starring the great Juliette Binoche; and Valley of Love, which features Isabelle Huppert and Gerard Depardieu playing thinly veiled versions of themselves as a separated couple traveling across Death Valley.
The Palme d'Or award-winning film Dheepan, originally scheduled to open today, June 17, at the Broad Theater (and reviewed in the current issue of Gambit) will be held for the French Film Festival and will screen on July 14 at 9:15 p.m. Festival tickets and passes go on sale on June 21.
