Singer-songwriter Elvis Costello has extended his solo "Detour" tour with a dozen new dates, including a stop in New Orleans this fall. Costello performs Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Saenger Theatre.

It'll be his second visit to New Orleans this year. Topped with a purple backwards flat cap with an Allen Toussaint pin remembering his late friend and collaborator, Costello appeared with his Imposters at the 2016 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and at Preservation Hall. His solo "Detour" dates have largely seen the songwriter along onstage weaving heartfelt storytelling through songs on guitar and piano with only minor accompaniment from a handful of other players on a few songs — all backed by a giant TV screen broadcasting memories, family photographs and other images.

Tickets are $49.75-$89.75 and go on sale at noon Friday, June 17 via the Saenger Theatre box office (1111 Canal St.), ticketmaster.com or (800) 745-3000.
