Sturgill Simpson's acclaimed A Sailor's Guide To Earth is out now.
Country singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson performs at the Saenger Theater on Friday, Sept. 9, rounding out New Orleans' busy September concert calendar.
The Kentuckian's third album, which follows his masterful 2014 LP Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, is written largely to his child, framing often-witty or deeply sad life lessons and self-reflection through a letter home from the Navy, and brought to life with southern soul, big brass and string arrangements.
Also coming to New Orleans this fall: In-demand, face-obscured pop singer-songwriter Sia brings her 2016 "Nostalgia for the Present" tour to the Smoothie King Center on Thursday, Nov. 3. The 22-date tour marks her first time on the road in five years and her first-ever North American arena tour. R&B artist Miguel and electronic duo AlunaGeorge are also on the tour.
Sia's 2016 album This Is Acting, her seventh, follows the breakout success of 1000 Forms of Fear and its massive single "Chandelier" with songs mostly rejected from the hitmakers she's written for, wrapping her idiosyncratic vocals in pristine pop production.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 17 for Citi card holders. General ticket sales open 10 a.m. Friday, May 20.
