The New Orleans Saints organization will hold a visitation Friday for fans wanting to pay respects to the late Will Smith. The visitation will be held at the team's practice facility in Metairie.
Smith, who played for the team from 2006 to 2012, was shot Saturday night in the Lower Garden District in an altercation following a fender bender.
There also will be
a memorial second line Wednesday night in the Lower Garden District near the scene of the shooting. It begins at 6 p.m. Update: Due to weather, the second line is postponed to Friday, April 15. Full route information here.

The New Orleans Saints and the family of Will Smith will host a visitation for guests wishing to pay their final respects to Will Smith on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2:00-7:00 pm at the Saints’ indoor practice facility located at 5800 Airline Drive in Metairie.
Those wishing to pay their respects will be able to park for free in available parking lots at the Saints complex, with courtesy overflow parking being held at the adjacent New Orleans Zephyrs parking lots. Guests planning on attending will see clearly marked signs directing both traffic flow and pedestrian traffic, as well as Saints’ employees assisting those with questions.
Guest lines will be clearly marked and will form along the back fence of the Saints property behind the Pelicans Training Facility and proceed into the South Entrance of the Saints Indoor Practice Facility to pass and view the casket. There will not be a ceremony or any funeral service elements during this time. There will be a celebration of Will Smith’s life both on and off the field presented through photographs and video.
Traditional and virtual guest books will be available for those wishing to pay their respects, as well as prayer cards. There is an opportunity to make a contribution to honor Will’s community efforts through the Where There’s A Will, There’s A Way Foundation. The Foundation started by Will and Racquel Smith is dedicated to guiding children to strive and achieve greatness through motivational and educational platforms.
In the event of inclement weather, guest should be prepared to wait outside of the facility prior to entering.
A private family burial and funeral service will take place on Saturday.
