Mardi Gras Indian funk outfit Cha Wa's debut album Funk'n'Feathers is out now. The band — with Creole Wild West Big Chief Irving "Honey" Banister, Wild Magnolias Spy Boy J'Wan Boudreaux and a diverse roster of versatile New Orleans musicians — performs an album release show at 11 p.m. tonight, Friday, April 1 at Blue Nile. Papa Mali & Raja Kassis with the Cha Wa Horns also are on the bill.

The album spans the Indian catalog (from "Injuns, Here They Come" to "Shallow Water") and standards like "L'il Liza Jane" and "All On a Mardi Gras Day," elevated with fresh arrangements inspired by psychedelic funk and visceral street rhythms, backed with contemporary production helmed by Galactic's Ben Ellman.

Listen to album track "UPT" below; The Vinyl District also is streaming the album this week.
