The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and New Orleans Video Access Center have joined forces to launch retroPerspective, an annual festival of documentary films, this weekend at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 N. Rampart Street. Admission to the festival is free and requires no advance registration.
The festival will present thirteen features and short films in a program described as offering "unique perspectives on our community, often viewed through the prism of history." Included are screenings of Louisianan Boys: Raised on Politics; The Ends of the Earth: Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana; A Sense of Place - Everywhere Else is Just Cleveland and work-in-progress film Buckjumper by Lily Keber (Bayou Maharajah). A panel discussion will address fair use of copyrighted material. See the full schedule here.
