Brian Wilson
says he'll perform Pet Sounds "for a final time." The composer and Beach Boys founder previously announced a headlining slot at Austin's Levitation Festival in April/May — today, Wilson announced a world tour in honor of the influential album's 50th anniversary. The eight-month tour includes a stop in Bossier City, Louisiana at the Horseshoe Casino on Saturday, July 23. (It's a five-hours-and-change drive from New Orleans — nearly as far as another "nearby" tour stop in Tunica, Mississippi.)

Wilson's band includes original Beach Boy Al Jardine and longtime guitarist Blondie Chaplin, who joined Beach Boys in the '70s (Carl and the Passions – "So Tough", Holland, The Beach Boys In Concert) and performed with Wilson on his 2015 album No Pier Pressure.

“It’s really been a trip to sit here and think about releasing Pet Sounds 50 years ago,” Wilson said in a statement. “I love performing this album with my band and look forward to playing it for fans all across the world.”

The album — a pop masterpiece written by Wilson and lyricist Tony Asher — and its ambitious production and the toll it took on Wilson and the band were recently dramatized in the acclaimed film Love & Mercy.
