  • Marcello's Restaurant & Wine Bar opened its third location in Metairie this week.

The Sicilian-focused wine bar and restaurant Marcello’s opened its third Louisiana location (4860 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, 504-301-3848) this week.

The wine shop and restaurant hybrid is the largest location yet, taking over the 6,500-square-foot space formally occupied by Louisiana Tex-Mex chain Coyote Blues. Marcello’s owners Gene Todaro Sr. and Gene Todaro Jr. have partnered with Coyote Blues’ parent-company owner, Kevin Moody, on the project.

The new space features a screened-in patio, a large indoor bar and dining room and a separate party and banquet space.

Despite the much larger digs, the concept is similar to that of the St. Charles Avenue location and the Lafayette flagship, including racks of the owner's sizable wine collection (the Todaro family also own Vieux Carre Wine & Spirits and Elio’s Wine Warehouse). It offers the same menu of rustic Italian dishes, including eggplant caponata with goat cheese and crostini, chicken cacciatore and gnocchi served with arugula pesto, sweet peas and heirloom tomatoes.

The restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit the restaurant’s website here.
