Nordstrom Rack, the discount retail division of Nordstrom, will open a 35,000-square-foot store at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk in fall 2016. It anchors the development's south side, joining Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio, Forever 21 and Coach, among other retailers. Nordstrom Rack sells men's, women's and children's fashion items sourced from Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com and discounted 30 to 70 percent.
"We have been looking for more opportunities to serve customers in Louisiana and we're excited to bring a Nordstrom Rack closer to home for customers in New Orleans," Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, stated in a press release. "The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk is an excellent location and we are thrilled to be a part of the retail mix."
Launched in Seattle in 1901, Nordstrom operates 323 stores in North America, including a Nordstrom Rack in Baton Rouge's Mall of Louisiana. A second Louisiana Nordstrom Rack opens in Lafayette on March 10, 2016.
Officials are pleased to welcome the brand to New Orleans' downtown shopping scene, which was revitalized in 2014
following an $80 million renovation and expansion of The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk by the Howard Hughes Corporation.
“Today’s announcement of Nordstrom Rack to open at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk is another big win for our city,” New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu stated in a press release. “As the nation’s first downtown outlet center, the new Riverwalk has seen tremendous success since it reopened in 2014 and Nordstrom Rack perfectly complements its other retail offerings."
