Guy's Po-Boys suffered heavy damage after a suspected drunk driver caused a truck to crash into the Magazine Street po-boy shop early Monday, Dec. 21.
Magazine Street po-boy institution Guy’s Po-Boys (5259 Magazine St., 504-891-5025) is temporarily closed after a suspected drunk driver caused a pickup truck to crash into the restaurant early Monday, Dec. 21.
Police said the crash occurred about 12:39 a.m. when 19-year-old Shakti Gilotra was driving a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser on Valmont Street. Police say Gilotra blew through a stop sign and collided with a 2009 Dodge pickup truck which was traveling on Magazine Street, causing the truck to crash into the front of the corner po-boy store.
Gilotra suffered minor injuries and was booked on charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless operation and disregarding a stop sign. No one else was injured in the accident, but the building suffered heavy damage.
The owners of the po-boy shop were not immediately available for comment. There is no word how long the restaurant will stay closed for repairs.
