'Twas the week before Christmas, and not a creature was stirring without logging it on their fitness tracker. Each week, the New Orleans Exercist brings you news and events for active living in the Big Easy, but fewer of them this week than usual:

- NOLA Social Ride must freakin’ love Christmas because they have a bunch of bike rides planned this week: a pop-up ride at Parkway Bakery tonight (Dec. 14), an “ugly sweater and mustache” ride on Thursday (Dec. 17) and another from the new Crescent Park Bazaar to Aaron Neville’s free Christmas concert on Saturday (Dec. 19).

- One of the last races of 2015, the Ole Man River Half Marathon & 5K, happens Saturday (Dec. 19) in Gretna. Late registration is $80 for the half-marathon or $35 for the 5K. (If your pre-Christmas Saturday is already booked, you might consider the nine-kilometer Jackson Day Race on Jan. 3).

- Practice yoga at Longue Vue House and Gardens (7 Bamboo Road, 504-488-5488; on Sunday (Dec. 20). Suggested donation is $12 and the best part: class is held in a gallery of photos of Longue Vue. Call it… self-reflection.

- If you didn't think that was funny, don’t even think about trying Laughter Yoga at Northlake Nature Center (23135 Highway 190, Mandeville, 985-626-1238; on Monday (Dec. 21). Heidi Heyns leads class at 2 p.m. Non-members pay $5; call or email to register.

Next week, The Exercist takes a holiday break. Look for more coverage of fitness, wellness, workouts and more in January 2016.
