Each week, the New Orleans Exercist brings you news and events for active living in the Big Easy. You don’t need to be elite athlete to get onto the Superdome field this weekend – you’ll feel like a champion when you cross the 50-yard line in the 5K Saints Kickoff Run.

- Dance studio Dancing Grounds (3705 St. Claude Ave., 504-535-5791; www.dancingrounds.org) celebrates the back-to-school season with $5 classes today through Sept. 14. Drop-in classes include African dance, yoga, tap, ballet and more.

- Hop or step to NOLA Brewing (3001 Tchoupitoulas St., 504-301-0117; www.nolabrewing.com) tonight for a free, biweekly Yoga on Tap class hosted by Oak Street Yoga, followed by a special happy hour.

- NOLA Social Ride’s Wednesday fitness ride returns tomorrow. Cyclists meet at the New Orleans Museum of Art (1 Collins Diboll Circle) and roll out at 6:30 p.m. for a high-energy ride and a po-boy break at Parkway Bakery.

- Barre3 (5235 Magazine St., 504-301-3082; 611 O’Keefe Ave., 504-371-5297; www.barre3.com) hosts a free, outdoor Barre in the Park class at City Park’s Big Lake on Saturday. The fitness chain has hosted a series of outdoor classes across the country this summer — as many as 300 people turned out in the company's home base, Seattle. BYO yoga mat and prepare to enjoy post-workout samples from Whole Foods, Jamba Juice and Iconic protein drinks.

- Beat the Saints to the field at the Saints Kickoff Run on Saturday morning. Part of the NFL Run Series, the 5K race begins in Champions Square (1500 Poydras St.), traverses the French Quarter and finishes on the Superdome’s 50-yard line. There’s a post-race tailgate party and a Saints costume contest. Proceeds benefit the Louisiana Children's Museum. Adult registration is $60; kids' registration is $20 through Sept. 11 or $25 day of race. Use code GAMBITSAINTS and get $5 off registration.

- On Saturday evening, the NOLA Blue Doo Run turns Tulane's quad (6823 St. Charles Ave.) blue in support of prostate cancer survivors. The Soundwave Pep Band and the 610 Stompers perform before the race. The after-party features food, beer and music by Walter "Wolfman" Washington & the Roadmasters. Proceeds from the race and silent auction benefit Tulane's Prostate Cancer Research Fund. Registration is $30 for runners who are not members of New Orleans Track Club. Costumes are encouraged.
