Celebrating the "unsung" heroes of rock 'n' roll, the Ponderosa Stomp returns in October for its 12th edition with two nights of live music, a music history conference and a record show. The festival has released its nightly lineups and set times for the Oct. 2-3 concerts at Rock 'n' Bowl.

On Friday, Oct. 2, The Bo-Keys will back sets from Mable John, Brenda Holloway, Willie Hightower and Betty Harris, and Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon will join Los Straitjackets. Also on the bill that night are late-night sets from rockabilly artists J.M. Van Eaton, Joe Clay and Mack Banks.

Wild soul singer Roy Head closes out the second night on Saturday, Oct. 3 with a rockabilly-centric set. He also performs earlier that night. Also on the bill are Irma Thomas, Barbara Lynn and a dozen other soul, R&B and rock 'n' roll artists.

There also is a record show from Thursday, Oct. 1 through Saturday, Oct. 3. at the AC hotel by Marriott (221 Carondelet St.) featuring thousands of records from diverse collections. The hotel also hosts the festival's music history conference that weekend.

Single-night concert tickets are $60, and two night passes are $110, available online here
