  • Fitness, New Orleans style: Red Dress runners in 2008.

Each week this summer, the New Orleans Exercist brings you news and events for active living in the Big Easy. Look: that water bottle full of vodka you’ve been bringing to the gym is weird and sad. Drinking while you work out requires friends, actual hydration and possibly a red dress.

- Dig up that old red dress, because the Hash House HarriersRed Dress Run is next Saturday (Aug. 8). You must be 21 to participate in this uniquely debauched road race/street festival/fundraiser/extravaganza of day drinking, which includes a surprise course, not a whole lot of running and a barbecue and concert afterward. Today is your last chance to register for $60. Prices go up to $70 tomorrow and to $80 the day of the race.

- Free to Be Power Yoga (4609 Magazine St.; www.freetobepoweryoga.com) is hosting a weekly yoga series with Lululemon. The hourlong classes end with free green juice from Raw Republic and food available for purchase from a food truck. The next class is 6:30 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 6), with dinner from Taceaux Loceaux.

- HigherPower (514 City Park Ave., 504-302-7497; www.higherpowernola.com) hosts a “Wine Ride” next Friday (Aug. 7). The 10-mile casual bike ride starts at the gym at 6 p.m., heads out to Bacchanal and drops by Pearl Wine Co. on the way back. Drink only French wines, tell your friends you’re in the Tour de France.

- Bike advocacy group Bike Easy hosts a series of Back to School Bike Mechanics & Safety Workshops beginning next Saturday (Aug. 8). Bring your bike and get some basic tips on biking safely, fixing a flat and other common issues. The Aug. 8 session takes place at 2 p.m. at Algiers Regional Library (3014 Holiday Drive); future sessions are 1 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Keller Library & Community Center (4300 S Broad St.) and 1 p.m. Aug. 22 at Norman Mayer Library (3001 Gentilly Blvd.).

- Burlesque artist and instructor Bella Blue announced she is opening her own studio at the New Orleans Healing Center (2372 St. Claude Ave.) in September. Her classes are suspended until then. Read the full update at her website.

- And seriously: if you're going to drink while you exercise, drink water.
