COURTESY GALLAGHER'S GRILL
Pat Gallagher's 527 Restaurant and Bar in Mandeville will feature a seafood and steak-heavy menu, similar to the one served at Gallagher's Grill in Covington.
Northshore chef and restaurateur Pat Gallagher will open his second namesake restaurant in Mandeville July 23.
Following a soft-opening last night, Pat Gallagher’s 527 Restaurant and Bar
(527 Causeway Blvd.) is preparing to open to the public Thursday and will serve dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Lunch service will be added in the coming weeks, Gallagher says.
Gallagher has been a Northshore culinary fixture since the ’70s when he opened his first restaurant, The Winner’s Circle,
in Folsom. After working as a corporate chef at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for five years, he opened Gallagher’s Grill
on South Tyler Street in Covington. The restaurant specializes in classic French and Creole cuisine, particularly steak and seafood.
The menu at Gallagher's new restaurant will be similar to the Covington eatery but will feature different specials, Gallagher says, including a bone-in fillet, sauteed ruby red trout and fried oysters with pepper jelly and andouille sausage.
The newly renovated restaurant sits off the East Causeway Approach adjacent to the Winn-Dixie shopping complex in what used to be Shinto Japanese Cuisine. The space features a bar that fits roughly 25 people and a dining room that can seat 70 diners.
No changes are afoot at the Covington restaurant, Gallagher says.
