  • A performance at the Music Box Roving Village.

The final concerts at the Music Box Roving Village (1055 Harrison Ave.) are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. May 8-9, when guitarist, experimental composer and No Wave pioneer Arto Lindsay conducts an orchestra featuring Animal Collective's Josh Dibb, Japanther's Ian Vanek, Meschiya Lake, Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Aurora Nealand, Quintron, Sean Yeseult, Earl Scioneaux III and others. The events also feature swing dancers, Caramel Curves Motorcycle Club and Dirty South 504 Boyz Horse Club. The Music Box project combines visual and performance art and music.

The original Music Box, aka Dithyrambalina, aka the musical shantytown, featured miniature homes constructed as musical architecture on a lot in Bywater. Artists Swoon and New Orleans Airlift organized the project and it featured many musical performances, recording sessions and special guests, including My Morning Jacket's Jim James, Wilco's Nils Cline, Thurston Moore, Hamid Drake, Mannie Fresh and many others. The Roving Village is the second iteration of the project (previewed here and here). The Roving Village expo closes May in 10.
