The latest addition to the expanding culinary corridor on North Carrollton Avenue, Brown Butter
(231 N. Carrollton Ave., 504-609-3871) has been serving “Bible Belt” cuisine” to a lunchtime crowd since opening in January, but had put booze and dinner service on hold until now.
Earlier this month, the restaurant rolled out nightly dinner service Thursday through Sunday, offering classic comfort fare including a fried oyster and heirloom tomato salad, rabbit and dumplings with cornbread gnocchi and vinegar-braised beef short ribs with grits.
With the addition of a full bar stocked with Canebrake Ale and Shiner Bock on tap, along with several drink specials, Simon Beck and Dayne Womax’s Southern spot appears to be in full swing and ready for the Jazz Fest crowds.
Lunch is served Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner is served Thursday through Saturday 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A Sunday brunch is expected to launch soon.
