magazine announced its 2015 list of the nation's Best New Chefs
, and it didn't include anyone from Louisiana. The chefs will be featured in the magazine's July issue. Past local honorees include Sue Zemanick of Gautreau's, John Harris of Lilette, Ian Schnoeblen of Mariza, Susan Spicer of Bayona, John Besh and others. Zemanick's place on the 2008 list was the last time a local chef was honored.

put up a web poll to
pile up clicks
see who regional favorites are. New Orleans is in the Gulf Coast region, which also includes Puerto Rico. Nominees include Michael Doyle of Maurepas Foods, Kristen Essig of Meauxbar Bistro, Juan Carlos Gonzalez of SoBou, Michael Gulotta of MoPho, Phillip Lopez of Root and Square Root and Ryan Prewitt of Peche. If all the local chefs spilt the local vote, that opens up opportunities for Cory Bahr of Cotton in Monroe, Louisiana, Deme Lomas of Niu Kitchen in Miami, Jose Mendin of Pubbelly in Miami Beach and Jose Santaella of Santaella in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
