Reservoir Cafe closed for renovation, will reopen as a creperie

Lower Garden District coffee spot Reservoir Cafe (2045 Magazine St.) will have a whole new look after Mardi Gras when it reopens as a creperie.

The cafe is trading in its breakfast tacos and sandwiches for a more Parisian flair, following in the footsteps of its French Quarter sister restaurant De Ville Coffee House & Creperie (508 Dumaine St.). Coffee, teasand other breakfast-time beverages will continue to keep its neighborhood crowd well caffeinated.

The expansion of creperies across the city might just be one of 2015's most unexpected trends thus far, with the arrival of The Crepe Cart in the French Market earlier this year and Reservoir Cafe's current conversion.

While a menu has yet to be released, if it's similar to the offerings at De Ville selections might include a strawberry and Nutella crepe on the sweet side, or a Philly cheesesteak crepe for a more savory bent.

Crepe enthusiasts can follow along with Reservoir's overhaul via Facebook.
