Last year, web developers Max Gaudin and Travis Laurendine launched a web app that crowdsourced bathroom locations
from people living along Mardi Gras parade routes. AirPnP
is now a full-fledged mobile app and likely your best resource for finding a place to pee if you don't already have a friend on the route.
Of course there are plenty of port-o-lets provided by the City of New Orleans — like a dozen at St. Charles and Napoleon avenues and another cluster on Esplanade Avenue near Royal Street. There are more than 650 free, city-sanctioned toilets throughout Uptown, the CBD and French Quarter. Here's a map
Then there are plenty at private residences, like "The St. Andrew Shit House," all yours for $2, or "Miss Tamar's Psychic Bathroom" on Washington Avenue for $3. In the French Quarter, how about a Decatur Street balcony that's free to use as long as you plug it on social media, or the "Funky French Quarter Flusher" for $5-$10 (depending on No. 1 or 2). You can scout the locations on the map
, and, of course, rate your experience or leave a review. You can find AirPnP by searching for it in the app store.
Whatever you do, don't pee on the street, between cars, in someone's flowers, into a mailbox — just don't.
