Mardi Gras Indians to host Bo Dollis tribute at the Joy Theater

To honor the late Big Chief Bo Dollis, Mardi Gras Indian chiefs Monk Boudreaux, Bo Dollis Jr. and Roderick Sylvas host "3 Chiefs: A Tribute to Bo Dollis Sr." on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Joy Theater (1200 Canal St.).

The event, presented by Winter Circle Productions, brings together Dollis' son and Wild Magnolias Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr. with the Golden Eagles' Boudreaux, who joined The Wild Magnolias in the late '60s, and Sylvas of the Wild Tchoupitoulas.

Dollis Sr. died Jan. 20 at 71. His Wild Magnolias brought worldwide attention to Indian music and masking. "We ran together since day one, traveled the world together," Boudreaux said in a concert announcement. “Our musical bond was so powerful.”

The show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20-$40 and are available online.
