Prytania Theatre to celebrate 100th anniversary on Thursday with block party and free movies

The Prytania Theatre will celebrate its 100th anniversary tomorrow, Thursday, January 15, with a block party featuring free movies and popcorn, live music and street vendors. The festivities begin during the day with free screenings of Gone With the Wind (10 a.m.) and CInema Paradiso (2:30 p.m.) inside the theater. Prytania street will be closed to traffic starting at 5 p.m for the block party, which includes free outdoor screenings of a documentary about the Prytania (6 p.m.) and Cinema Paradiso (8 p.m.) A patron party will take place inside the theater from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and feature the local premiere of director Clint Eastwood's new film American Sniper and appearances by "local celebrities and public figures."
