Nine years after closing in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, wine and spirits pioneer Martin Wine Cellar will finally have a homecoming.
The store will reopen in its original location at 3827 Baronne St. next week, after a lengthy construction project that has been underway since April of this year.
Founded in 1946, Martin Wine Cellar's new, sleek 14,000 square foot space will serve as a hub for the Martin empire's additional locations on Magazine Street and in Metairie, Mandeville and Baton Rouge. The market returns to a Baronne Street actively making a culinary comeback, from local butcher Cleaver and Co. to nearby home brew supply store Brewstock.
The space plans to serve a variety of gourmet deli-style foods, with seating for up to 120 available in the store's dining area and outside.
Stay tuned for more details about Martin's impending opening, as well as photos from the space.
