Fathom Events broadcasts live and pre-recorded performances and sporting events on a regular basis to movie theaters across the country, including the Elmwood Palace in Harahan. The company truly bridges the cultural divide over the next few days with presentations of the Metropolitan's Opera's production of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Queen Rock Montreal 1981 — as in Freddie Mercury's band Queen.
Il Barbiere di Siviglia is a three-and-a-half-hour presentation that includes the Met's full 2014 production of the classic opera along with backstage interviews with cast and crew. It screens today, Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11:55 a.m. The program will be rebroadcast on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $18 for children, and are available here.
Queen Rock Montreal 1981 serves up a full 95-minute concert recorded at Montreal's Forum and features all the band's hits. A single screening is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and are available here.
