Romantic drama Lola was debut of French New Wave filmmaker Jaques Demy (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) in 1961. The director long described Lola as "a musical without music" and intended it as a tribute to pioneering German director Max Ophuls (Lola Montes). The French Ciné Club presents Lola on Monday, Nov. 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Cafe Istanbul, 2372 St. Claude Avenue inside the New Orleans Healing Center. Admission is $5 and free to members of the Alliance Francaise de La Nouvelle-Orléans. More info here.
