opens today in the Bienville House Hotel
. The highly anticipated tiki lounge and restaurant
features Polynesian food and a cocktail list culled from Berry's books
and research. The kitchen is run by chef Chris Shortall (who spoke with Gambit here
). The cleverly written menu
features tasting flights of dumplings, a gourmet take on Hawaiian loco moco, tiki drinks and cocktails for two. Latitude 29 opens at 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday. It closes at 11 p.m.
The Besh Restaurant Group
announced it will open Willa Jean Bakery in the Warehouse District in 2015. The cafe and bakery will open in The Paramount
, an apartment and commercial development on O'Keefe Avenue. The kitchen will be run by the restaurant group's executive pastry chef Kelly Fields and pastry chef Lisa White, who works at Domenica and Pizza Domenica. the restaurant will highlight Southern dishes and offer breads, pastries and desserts.
The Bombay Club and Martini Bistro will open in the Prince Conti Hotel
in December. The restaurant formerly known as the Bombay Club moved to the Chateau Lemoyne
and is now known as Richard Fiske's Martini Bar and Restaurant
. The Prince Conti Hotel retains the Bombay Club name, and the new restaurant will be operated by Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts
, which also runs Broussard's, Royal House Oyster Bar, The Original Pierre Maspero's and other properties. Chef Nathan Richard will be at the helm in the kitchen. He recently worked at Restaurant R'evolution. The menu at the Bombay Club will feature dishes such as crackling-crusted fish and chips, pickled shrimp wraps, stuffed flounder and more. There will be live music in the lounge.
