Louise Neal delivers a chocolate cake to a June birthday celebrant.
Remember that girl
who baked free birthday cakes for people born in the month of June?
On Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum
, Louise Neal will debut the photographs from The Birthday Cake Project
, the art installation that sent her to homes all over New Orleans with free birthday cakes for strangers during June. Neal carried a camera (along with a freshly baked cake, on her bike) to each birthday in an effort to document the project and the intimate celebrations it incited.
Homemade birthday cake will be served (it should be pointed out that Neal also plays the role of baker, in addition to that of visual and installation artist), and birthday wishes will be bestowed by local drag queen Golden Delicious.
The show is titled "Happy Happy Happy!" and the big birthday party will last from 3-5 p.m.
