The Crescent City Farmers Market
(CCFM) holds its fundraising gala Moonlight Market 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at 725 Magazine St. (patron party begins at 6 p.m.). The event features local food, live music, a silent auction and more. Restaurants and bars at the event will take a farm-to-table (and grain-to-glass) approach with ingredients from market vendors.
Participating restaurants include Bayona, Boucherie, Domenica, Maurepas Foods, Meauxbar, Patois, Toups’ Meatery and others. There’s a beer garden featuring local craft brews. At the patron party, mixologist Ian Julian will present a cocktail demonstration using locally-preserved syrups and spirits. The patron party also features a pairing of cheeses from St. James Cheese Company, breads from Bellegarde Bakery and charcuterie from Cleaver and Co.
Folk and bluegrass band The Leveetoppers perform at the gala.
CCFM opens its fourth farmers market Wednesday at the French Market. The markets promote regional farmers, fishermen and producers by giving them a venue where they can sell directly to consumers. They also encourage buying locally as a way to boost local economic development. The markets draw an estimated annual attendance of 140,000, and have an $11.9 million impact on the local economy. The weekly markets are held Tuesday in Uptown
, Wednesday at the French Market
, Thursday in Mid-City
and Saturday in the Warehouse District
Gala admission tickets $45, $100 patron party.
