The 17th annual New Orleans French Film Festival, a presentation of the New Orleans Film Society and the Consulat Général de France à la Nouvelle-Orléans, will take place from Friday, August 1 to Thursday, August 7 at the Prytania Theatre (5537 Prytania St.). The Festival's 12 entries range from French-language favorites like A Summer's Tale and Queen Margot to Tom at the Farm, the latest film by 25-year-old Canadian wunderkind Xavier Dolan. Other highlights include gastronomic comedy Le Chef; Catherine Breillat's first-person documentary Abuse of Weakness; and Mood Indigo, a new film by intermittently visionary French director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). Tickets are $11, and $10 for Society members.
