The NBA Draft is Thursday, June 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. However, tomorrow night the Pelicans will take part in the 2014 NBA draft lottery that will define where they will pick in the June 26 draft. The draft lottery can be watched on ESPN at 7 p.m.
The Philadelphia 76ers currently hold the rights to the Pelicans' pick after last year’s trade that sent point guard Jrue Holiday to New Orleans and forward/center Nerlens Noel to Philadelphia. The Pelicans have a 1.1 percent shot of landing the first overall pick, a 1.3 percent chance of picking second and 1.58 percent opportunity at the third overall choice. Should the Pels not land within the top three picks of the draft, Philadelphia will acquire New Orleans’ pick that will land between 10 and 13.
Pelicans general manager Dell Demps will represent the team at the draft lottery.
