New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham got a franchise tag from the team last Friday. Graham wants to be franchised as a wide receiver.
The deadline to apply the franchise tag on NFL players is today. Last Friday, while the city was preoccupied with parades and Mardi Gras debauchery, the New Orleans Saints slapped the franchise tag
on tight end Jimmy Graham
As a franchised tight end, Graham is due around $6.8 million. However, per NFL.com
, Graham may file a grievance with the league because he wants to be franchised as a wide receiver, not a tight end.
Should Graham be classified as tight end or a wide receiver? Will the Saints and the Pro Bowl player work out a similar deal like Terrell Suggs did with the Baltimore Ravens in 2008? Suggs and the Ravens split the difference in money between a linebacker and defensive end and Suggs dropped his grievance. Will the Saints do this for Graham between a wide receiver and tight end?
